I really appreciate everyone who takes time out of their day to read my blog. I hope you appreciate me too, because I’m actually writing this post on Sunday since I know I will not have time to write a post tomorrow and I didn’t want you to miss out.

Training Updates

Good news! I did run this week! I did almost all of my workouts – even the cross training. However, the six-mile long run didn’t exactly happen. It was attempted. Drew and I met up at 8 a.m. this morning (remember I’m writing this on Sunday, so technically yesterday morning) and we ran about two miles before I just gave up. I had multiple reasons why I quit, but I’m going to fall back on the same scapegoat I’ve been using for the past 20 years – my sister.

I went to be on Saturday around 11 p.m., only for my sister to barge into my room at 12:30 a.m. to inform me that there was some sort of assault that happened in town and there was a suspect on the loose. Yes, this is actually important information, however I still wanted to sleep. The police were able to catch the suspect about 45 minutes later, and she left shortly thereafter. It still took me a little while before I was able to calm down enough to fall asleep.

So, on Sunday morning, I showed up to the park Drew and I had agreed to meet at and I was tired, and I felt a little discombobulated because I woke up late and wasn’t able to get everything prepared like I had wanted. The morning was also very sunny, and the temperature was already over 75oF. Also, my shoulder really started to tense up about a mile and a half into the run. It was very uncomfortable.

There were multiple excuses I could use to justify why I wasn’t able to run the full six miles. Sunday morning was just not my morning.

Other than that, I did do 3 three-mile runs plus a 40-minute cross-training workout last week. Overall, I would say the week was a success, even if I wasn’t able to complete all of the workouts like I had hoped.

Drew also suggested that we just do a six-mile run later this week. We’ll substitute a shorter distance day with a longer distance since we did a short distance today.

My long run goal for this week is seven miles, so we’ll see what happens. Either way, you know I’ll let you know how it goes next week on this blog.

In Other News

I bought a new pair of running shoes today (again actually on Sunday)! I am very excited about them. They’re New Balance, like my current running shoes, and they’re a lilac color (and just so happen to perfectly match one of my Fitbit bands). I plan on starting to break them in this week. I think I’ll start by just walking around in them for awhile and then work them into some shorter distance runs.

Monday Motivation

Oh yeah, it’s back!

“Fix your ponytail and try again.” -unknown (like most of the quotes I use, I found it on Pinterest).

I thought this was an appropriate quote for this week. I didn’t have a great run on Sunday, but I’m not going to let that stop me from training for this half marathon (which is happening in about two months). I am going to try to run the six miles again later this week.

If you want to hear about how my next attempt at the six-mile run goes, make sure you are subscribed to this blog, so you don’t miss out on my next update!

Week 27:
Miles run this week: 3.1 (I'll include the 4 miles I did on Monday with next week)
Miles run total: 126.55
Overall mood: Determined
