Happy Monday everyone! I hope you are looking forward to catching up with me here on Mondays from now on.

I didn’t do a ton of running last week. I ran about two and half miles on both Tuesday and Thursday. I was hoping to run seven miles total for the week, but with moving out of my apartment, finals, and graduation, my schedule was a little hectic.

Oh yeah… I’M OFFICALLY A COLLEGE GRADUATE!!

(Is it professional to use double exclamation points? Who cares?! I’m excited!)

It still doesn’t feel real. I remember walking up to the stage and hearing them call my name, but the rest of the whole walking across the stage thing is a blur.

I’ll be starting optometry school in August, which is another reason why I think graduating college hasn’t impacted me as much as it has for some of my friends. It just feels like I’m home for the summer. Plus, I’ll be back in the area in a few weeks for a friend’s wedding, so I know I haven’t said goodbye to my college town forever.

I’m sure once school starts back up, then I’ll notice how much everything really has changed, but for now I’m just trying to relax a little bit.

This Week’s Runs

Why have I been writing more about my college graduation than about my runs this week? Well, honestly, they weren’t super exciting. Both days it was rainy out, so we (my roommate, Kathrine and I) ran on the track inside of the fieldhouse. I know I need to work on running in the rain. Maybe next time – when I don’t have an indoor track available to me.

Like I mentioned earlier, we probably ran about 2.5 miles both days. On Tuesday, my Fitbit said that we had run about 0.2 miles after we finished about four or five laps. So, it’s hard to say for sure how far we ran. We ran for 30 minutes though, so I estimated that was pretty close to 2.5 miles. It typically takes us about 34-35 minutes to run three miles.

This week I also learned the importance of wearing the right clothes for the running conditions. On Tuesday, I wore shorts and a t-shirt and felt fine while running. Then on Thursday, I wore long leggings and a t-shirt and I did not feel a great. I think I was just getting too hot. I’m not really sure, but I did not feel as strong as I did on Tuesday.

Kathrine would probably appreciate if I mentioned something about how it was our last run in the fieldhouse together. So, here it goes.

Thursday was our last run together in the fieldhouse, and honestly probably our last time running together in general at Northwest. I am so thankful she was crazy enough to agree to be my running partner for the past few months. I probably wouldn’t have been able to keep it up these past few months if I hadn’t had her there to remind me that we needed to go running every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

If we’re being real though, I’m the one who told her about the workout class that happened before spring break, so really I got the wheels moving on this whole working out thing. I’m just glad she was there to continue to push me when I didn’t want to do it.

We don’t live close enough together that it would make sense for us to run together consistently in the summer, but we’re trying to think of other ways to keep each other accountable. Mostly, she just told me that I should text her to tell her I’m going running at a certain time that way she’ll go running then too – even if I can’t actually go running at that time. I think that system may be a little flawed, at least on my end.

Wrap Up

I’ve officially graduated from college, and I plan on really getting more into my half marathon training now that I’m out of school for a little bit. I’m looking forward to sharing my experiences with you as I train for my first half marathon over the next few months.

Just as a reminder, I am posting my blog on Mondays from now on. If I decide I need to change my posting schedule around I will let you know. For now, we’re sticking with Mondays.

Also since we’re doing a whole Monday blog post thing, I’m introducing a new section to my weekly blogs!

Monday Motivation

This will just be a short section where I include a quote or something that I find motivational. Hopefully, this will be fun!

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” – Helen Keller

That’s all for this week, everyone. I hope this quote will help inspire you in some way this week. If not, maybe next week’s blog will be more helpful.

Week 11:
