Hello everyone! So, I’m just going to get right down to it today. I have midterms starting at the end of the week and really need to study. I also forgot to plan time to write a blog post this week, because also I kind of forgot that I did this.

Anyway, this week’s post will be nice and short considering I only made it to the gym once this past week. And I didn’t even run. I rode a stationary bike for like 30 minutes. Also, this is the second time I’ve ridden a stationary bike at the gym, and I am not really a fan. I hate to say that, because I really wish I liked it more. I just don’t feel like I’m doing enough when I’m on the bike. I’m probably just not pushing myself hard enough.

Even though I have midterms creeping up, I have scheduled time to go to the gym four times this week. The only problem I think I will run into is that I scheduled my gym time for 6 a.m. right when the gym opens. This morning I woke up at 6:30 a.m., so getting out of bed on time will be the hard part. I’ve also scheduled in some morning study time this week, so I really have to get up on time, otherwise I’ll be missing out on two activities that I prioritized.

Why did I schedule morning gym time when I know I am not great at waking up early? It’s the most logical time for me to do it, honestly. I mean my days are so packed now that I don’t have a lot of time to juggle things around if I get off track. Also, I don’t like to shower at night, so by going to the gym in the morning I will be able to continue to keep showering in my morning routine.

Okay, well I really need to get back to studying some neuroanatomy, so I’ll wrap things up here.

Wrap-Up

I have less than three weeks until the half marathon. I’m extremely nervous, because I know I’m not as prepared as I’d like to be. I will (unsurprisingly I’m sure) have a blog about things I wish I would’ve done differently after I run the race. I’m going to try to focus more on personal/blog related issues rather than strictly how I wish I trained differently. My hope is that it won’t be a repeat of what every other “Things I wish I knew before my first half marathon” blog post says. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see though!

Motivation Monday

“You don’t have to solve your whole life overnight. And you don’t have to feel ashamed for being where you are. All you have to focus on is one small thing you can do today to get closer to where you want to be. Slowly and lightly, one step at a time. You can get there.” – Daniell Koepke

There’s your Motivation Monday, Kathrine.

I picked this quote, because I especially liked the second sentence. I have felt so ashamed for not being where I want to be with my half marathon training. I am trying to be okay with where I am. Tomorrow my goal is to make it to the gym in the morning (and to study a lot for my midterms coming up). I’ll start there and see how far I can go.

Also, I just want to say so many super cool things have come from me getting back into running this year. Among running the furthest distance that I’ve ever run before and finding cool podcasts to listen to about running, some of my friends have also started reaching out to me to tell me about their progress with their running/fitness goals. It is just really empowering to be able to cheer on other people and also know that there are people cheering for me.

That’s all for this week! Hopefully, I’ll be able to tell you about my early morning workout sessions next week. If you don’t hear from me next week though, it will most likely be because I am trying to cram more information into my brain before my midterms. I’ll try to take a study break to give you an update.
